The Necessity of Rebellion

The driving concept behind our young adult novel _RebelFire: Out of the Gray Zone_ (www.rebelfire.com) is rebellion. Rebellion against an all-controlling nanny state and peer pressure to conform with its dictates. This is emphasized by the original song "Justice Day" (go to www.rebelfirerock.com/downloadjd.html for lyrics or download).

One astute fan has taken this idea and run with it by putting together a "Justice Day" video (available on Google video at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3827390391038577130 and YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxDuFUSSd8E ). You may not agree with everything in the video, but you can't deny that this person is _doing_ something and taking a stand.

While JPFO / RebelFire Press did not produce this video (indeed, we only learned of it when a supporter forwarded a link), we encourage those of you who agree with its message to forward it to as many people as possible. A music video is a short, concise way to reach a wide audience -- particularly the younger generation -- and get them thinking about the evils that government can do. And sometimes, the necessity of rebellion.

Rebellion certainly plays a big part in Jewish history. In fact, this Saturday, March 3, marks the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Purim. Also known as the Story of Esther, Purim commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people from genocide planned by the king's advisor, Haman, through the actions of the Jewish heroine Esther. You can read more about Purim at http://www.jewfaq.org/holiday9.htm .
