Less than a week ago, the New York SAFE Act survived its first federal court challenge, and so over 1,000 New Yorkers remain potential felons. If anything useful at all came out of the ruling it was that the seven-round limit for magazines was deemed arbitrary (of course it is!).
John Lott digs into the decision and demonstrates just how much this fails to acknowledge the little effect that is likely from banning the so called 'assault weapons', as well as pointing out how registration has not been shown to have any beneficial effect on crime. We know of course that registration is always pushed for so as to know who has what when a decision is made to confiscate.
