By Tanya Metaksa. Posted By Josh Workman, October 10th, 2016

Latest developments -- 2016 election; Anit-Second Amendment referenda: California, Maine, Nevada, Washington; S. 2012; Judicial: Pullman Arms Inc., Guns and Gear, LLC, Paper City Firearms, LLC, GRRR! Gear, INC., and National Shooting Sports Foundation, Inc. v. Maura Healey, Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; KS&E Sports, et al. v. Dwayne H. Runnels; SCOTUS-Voisine v. United States; new legislative action: California, Pennsylvania

114th Congress

S.659, the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act, otherwise known as the SHARE Act, passed the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on Jan. 20, 2016, and then was added as an amendment to S.2012, the Energy Policy Modernization Act, that passed on April 20, 2016. Both Houses have passed differing versions of this bill and the first meeting of a conference committee was held on Sep. 8, 2016.

The FY2017 Commerce, Justice, Science (CJS) Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2578) passed the House and included several safeguards for Second Amendment rights: prohibit the implementation of the UN Arms Treaty, stop requiring FFL dealers in southern border states to report multiple rifle sales, permanently ban ATF from implementing the "sporting purposes" test for the importation of rifles, defund programs like Fast and Furious, and promote the importation of curios and relic firearms. Additionally Rep. Luetkemeyer (R-MO) offered an amendment to stop the use for government funds to support "Operation Choke Point" that passed unanimously. The bill now goes to the Senate for a vote. ......

This quite a comprehensive 2A oriented article and is worth visiting to catch up on general and state legislation matters. All things considered there are some fairly encouraging moves mentioned.
Interesting to note within H.R.2578 - "prohibit the implementation of the UN Arms Treaty"... it has passed the house, and now we need to see it passed in the senate.
