President Joe Biden's re-election campaign is starting to stir from its slumber and, in a repeat of the 2020 election, they've got their sights set on eliminating Second Amendment rights.

Quentin Fulks, the Biden 2024 Principal Deputy Campaign Manager, appeared on NBC News' Meet The Press to lay out the Biden-Harris campaign's top priorities and what they'll tell voters they can expect if the president is given another four years in The White House by American voters. It comes as no shock that attacking Second Amendment rights is among President Biden's "to-do" list for 2024.

"The president has already done a lot to prevent gun violence. He passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act," Fulks said. "He's established an office of Gun Violence Prevention, but we have to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines."

There you have it. In 2020, the president kicked off his bid for The White House by calling firearm manufacturers "the enemy." This time around, he's doubling down his antigun rhetoric. Make no mistake, President Biden is coming for your guns. He's coming for your freedoms and he's willing to trample on the U.S. Constitution to do it.

Examine the Record

It would be easy to dismiss this as hyperbolic campaign trail rhetoric except President Biden is already doing it. His first term showed his open contempt for the firearm industry and the Constitutionally-protected rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms for lawful purposes. He instituted a zero-tolerance policy for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that saw closed firearm retailer inspections reopened and licenses and livelihoods revoked and shuttered. He has issued unconstitutional Executive Branch orders that overreach by creating criminal law through dubious Final Rules that redefined "Frames or Receivers," and banned the use of braces on AR-15 pistols. But there is more he's doing right now. He is attempting to redefine who is "engaged in the business" to make nearly everyone who would consider privately selling a firearm to be required to obtain a federal firearms license. This proposed rule is designed to put us a big step closer to universal background checks, which the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) says only works if there is a national firearm registry – that is illegal under current federal law. How you ask? Broadening the definition of who is required to have a dealer's license and requiring an ATF Form 4473 for any gun they sell would generate millions of ATF Form 4473s.

Fulks explained that the moniker for Biden's re-election campaign is going to be "Protect Freedom and Democracy." That's ironic, since everything his administration has done to this point is aimed at eliminating Second Amendment freedoms. He launched a series of campaign speeches that's no less ironic. He spoke from Valley Forge, where President George Washington – the nation's first president – wintered in 1777 with the ragtag Revolutionary Army to refit and refocus their fight against British occupiers. That Revolutionary War began with British troops instituting their own gun control when they attempted to raid powder stores in Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. Those were the first shots that rang out in defense of freedom, fired by well-armed citizens who refused to let a tyrannical government strip them of the right to keep and bear arms.

"On that cold winter of 1777, George Washington and his American troops at Valley Forge waged a battle on behalf of a revolutionary idea that everyday people — like where I come from and the vast majority of you — not a king or a dictator — that everyday people can govern themselves without a king or a dictator," President Biden said in his speech.

That's Not Freedom

Yet, he is wielding autocratic powers when he issues fiats around the will of Congress, which has the sole authority to write criminal law. President Biden's administration crafted criminal law from thin air when they finalized gun control rules through the ATF. That's not a mechanism of democracy, which he pledged to protect. That's trampling on the tenets of our government that Congress makes laws and the Executive Branch enforces them. In President Biden's vision for his next administration, he wants to flip the script. He will dictate the laws and demand Congress acquiesce to his special-interest gun control donors who are propping up his campaign.

President Biden reiterated his attacks on Second Amendment rights when he spoke at Mother Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C.

"We have to ban assault weapons. I did it once before, and I'm going to come back again and do it," President Biden said. "Ban high-capacity magazines. We have to pass a universal background checks. It doesn't violate the Second Amendment."

But it does. Banning an entire class of firearms violates the Second Amendment. The U.S. Supreme Court said as much in its Heller, McDonald and Bruen decisions.

Get Involved, GUNVOTE

The president is attempting to make the 2024 campaign a referendum on freedom, yet it is the Biden-Harris administration that's been attacking freedom. That's why NSSF isn't sitting idly by. The 2024 election is critically important to the firearm industry, the industry that provides the means for Americans to lawfully exercise their Second Amendment freedoms. When the Biden-Harris administration attacks the industry, they attack American freedoms.

The presidential vote isn't the only election that will be critical to America in 2024. Americans will also vote on every member of the U.S. House of Representatives and one-third of the U.S. Senate. Those votes are critical to keep at bay the gun control legislation that President Biden wants to pass. President Biden has shown the lengths he will go to work around Congress, which is why it is vitally important to elect U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators who will stand strong for freedoms and push back against Executive Branch overreach.

That's why the firearm industry's GUNVOTE® voter education program will be working to ensure all voters concerned about their rights know what is at stake, how to register to vote and where to go to cast their ballots in November. President Biden is taking aim at Second Amendment rights. Americans can make their voices heard that their rights matter and refuse to cede their personal freedoms to satisfy a radical gun control special interest that's been steering the Biden-Harris campaign.

There's a new way for citizens to get involved. The Protect Liberty Political Action Committee (PAC) was launched earlier this year with the express goal of electing candidates who are dedicated to preserving and protecting liberty, freedoms and the Constitutional rights of all Americans. This especially includes the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Protect Liberty PACTM will take a leading role and be more dynamic and outspoken in the electoral process in order to protect the firearm industry, beginning at the ballot box. This PAC enables all Americans to support candidates for office who believe our rights, enshrined in the U.S. Constitution, are protected and non-negotiable.
