Exhibits Mental Issues of Its Own

"Mental health suitability screenings for gun owners and sellers" are among the proposals offered by the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission, a supposedly blue-ribbon panel established by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in the wake of a gun-free zone massacre in order to punish everyone who was not responsible for it, the Associated Press reported via NBC Connecticut. And surprising no one, rather than acting as an independent body committed to realistic solutions, the commission has proven itself more of a Demanding Moms advocacy council, minus the shrieking.
For that, they could rely on their interim report proposals to inspire plenty of volume and hot air, seized on by the antis and the Malloy administration as cover for registration along with gun and magazine bans hastily enacted in "The Constitution State." But, as promised (threatened), "[t]he group stressed that its work is far from over."
The latest bizarre proposals, presented under the auspices of the Orwellian-named Subcommittee on Firearms/Ammunition, Best Practices/Protocols and Violence Reduction, are numerous, bureaucratic, unwieldy, terminally politically correct, and frankly, pretty stupid. As far as concerns for gun owners, they boil down to two big showstoppers: They want to "[r]equire that any shell casing for ammunition sold or possessed in Ct. have a serial number laser etched on same for tracing purposes," and "[t]hat a mental health suitability screening process be developed for anyone seeking a license to sell, purchase or carry any type of firearm in Ct."
Oh they do, do they?
That neither of these imbecilic infringements would have made a bit of difference in the incident for which the commission was named is something conveniently left unmentioned. That they would add unjustified expense, and not just to the gun community, but in trying to administer such intrusive bureaucratic monstrosities, is evidently not anticipated. That hardened criminals will ignore them, and so will any gun owner who cares about freedom enough to take their chances with principled civil disobedience, goes unaddressed.
In a peculiar combination of a "Catch-22" contradiction along with Soviet-style psychiatric controls, expect the desire to own guns to be proof of a mental disability. Especially if they're the "non-sporting" kind and accompanied by a belief that keeping and bearing them is "necessary to the security of a free State." And if subcommittee panelists have any inkling of how fundamentally unworkable, and thus moronic, their little laser-etching scheme would prove to be, none show even a glimmer of awareness.
Those panelists, Denis McCarthy, Barbara O'Connor, Wayne Sanford, and Bernie Sullivan, are respectively, the City of Norwalk fire chief, the University of Connecticut police chief, a professor at the University of New Haven who is a former state Homeland Security emergency management commissioner and East Haven fire chief, and the former Hartford police chief (and former chief of staff to the former Democratic Speaker of the House).

Disinterested parties in advancing state supremacy all...? Well, no.
The chair of the overall commission, Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson, "was one of dozens nationwide to sign a letter to President Obama urging him to support stricter gun laws in the wake of the Newtown shootings" at the behest of Michael Bloomberg and his Astroturfers Against Private Guns (Ex-NYPD Bodyguards Exempted) campaign.
That tells us two things: Impartial participation on the commission is neither wanted nor allowed, and there is no way those who made the cut will be satisfied restricting things to Connecticut. They mean to impose their incompetent tyranny on all of us, and they will never be satisfied until we all either bend to it or are removed as potential threats.
If left to this confederacy of dunces, the massive noncompliance from brave Connecticut gun owners -- that screams to the world what a total failure Malloy has presided over -- will be emulated on a national scale. And true to form, the Fourth Estate Fifth Columnists, the ones who don't have to put their own precious hindquarters on the line, will be screaming for the scofflaws' heads.
The antis insist ... they demand we push the country to this? And they want mental testing for us?
